Chord Library List

Jazz Chords from Don Mock These are jazz blues voicings taken from Don Mock's video titles "Jazz Guitar Rhythm Chops". I recommend using this over the mixolydian borrowed scale. Most of these chords are 7th chords - so if you only use the major, only the 5th chord (G7 in the key signature of C) will get the benifit of these great voicings.
3 note II-V-I chords 3 note chords - most of which do not have the root. This will present quite a challenge as SightReader might throw some curve balls at you because it gets the chords from the notes fretted (which may not contain the root note - so the root note may be anything!)
minor IIm7b5 - Valt - Im6 Here is a great chord library of minor II-V-I chord voicings as supplied by jazz guitar ace Dixon Nacey (Best jazz guitarist I have heard in the flesh) - I have also included a PDF which I embellished so you can learn these voicings quickly - download here
Jazz Comping Chords Rob Heath has posted us some chords he's been working with for jazz comping. all top string chords, including good
voicings for dominant-sharp9ths, dominant-flat9ths, minor6, augmented,
diminished and half-diminished chords
Cool Chord Options Here's a great set of voicings for commonly used chords - there is also a lot of very useful II-V chord combinations - instant sophistication

note: These voicings are also great voicings to use outside of SightReader Master - check them out in the chord design window, print them out and learn them!

How to get these into SightReader :

  • Download them (perhaps onto the desktop)
  • Run SightReader Master. Go to the Chord Design Menu > Construction and Lists. Open that window.
  • Click on Cut and Paste a Chord Library into Local Directory
  • Find the downloaded file and open it. This will remove it from the desktop and put it into your chord library directory.
  • Important. Close the Chord Design window and then re-open it
  • up the top, click" import a list " (as seen below)
  • use the directory to locate the file.
  • Open them to add them to your list of Chord Libraries!
