Transcribe! I Use this tool a lot as well - it's great for transcribing licks. As you may know, only 30% of what we play is truley improvised - the other 70% is stuff we've learnt. Make a list of the favourite licks of your favourite guitarist and write them out! Imitate, assimilate and then Innovate! |

Guitar Pro This is a really good tab program. It imports power-tab files. I used this software at Jazz school to create my transcription assignments! It also is good for creating backing tracks! Just find the midi (or guitar pro files) online. Load it in and mute the guitar tracks. Export as a wave and you have a backing track! |

Power-tab A completely free tab editor. It doesn't have all the tools of guitar pro - but it's a wonderful piece of software! It's got a great stave to bitmap to clipboard function. As you know, you can copy images on the clipboard into the guitar Freak Workstation workpage! |

Buy them in bulk here (you know they always get lost - tip - order red!) The String I use 9-42, however you can get other gauges here Metronome - if you don't have one - you need one - this ones really inexpensive! Fastfret - preserve your string life - I always have a can of this around! |
